A fairly lacklustre line-up of titles for October, but there could be some budget gems in the mix.
Xbox Live Games With Gold
Overcooked! (XB1) Available from 1 October. From the studio that brought us Worms, a couch co-operative game where players must work together to run a kitchen and keep your ever-demanding customers happy. Successful enough to get a sequel earlier this year.

Stuntman: Ignition (X360, compatible with XB1) Available from 1 October. “Master the greatest stunt sequences ever filmed in the world’s most dangerous, demanding- and exciting- job”. Not a terribly recent game, the original was released on the PlayStation 2 back in the day.

Victor Vran (XB1) Available from 16 October. An action RPG where you “quest to liberate the cursed city of Zagoravia”. Vampires, demons and Diablo-style gameplay appear to await!

Hitman: Blood Money (X360, compatible with XB1) (MA15) Available from 16 October. “Money talks, but silence pays” in this 2006 stealth-em-up.

PlayStation Plus releases on 2 October
Laser League (PS4): An arena-based sports game; two teams of three players attempt to set off Tron-style laser barriers to eliminate the other team. First team to take two rounds wins.

Friday The 13th: The Game (PS4) (R18): A Kickstarted multiplayer game based on the movies; one player (as Jason Vorhees) attempts to take out the other players who’ve foolishly holed up at Camp Certain Death or whatever.

Knowledge Is Power (PS4/Playlink): Trivia game where up to 4 players use their mobile phones or tablets as controllers.
Master Reboot (PS3): A first-person adventure game in a future where your soul can be uploaded to the cloud. Game has a ‘PG’ advisory (if not an official ACB rating) for horror elements.
The Bridge (PS3, PS4, PSV): A logic puzzle game described on the store page as “Isaac Newton meets M.C. Escher.” Hand-drawn pencil artwork abounds.
Rocketbirds 2: Evolution (PS4, PSV): A run-and-gun shooter for up to four players, with Hardboiled Chicken (for ’tis his name) seeking to eliminate an evil penguin.
2064: Read Only Memories (PS4, PSV): This could be a sleeper in the group; a retro text-based adventure with Amiga-style pixel graphics and a cyberpunk theme.
